Benedict is a transplanted Australian film, theatre and opera director based in Reykjavik. Equally at home, in the theatre or behind the camera, Benedict is a passionate, visual story teller.His award winning work has been staged by the world’s leading theatres and is known for the intense and fragile beauty of its imagery and the electrifying performances he elicits from actors.

Onstage, he has worked with a roll call of great actors including Cate Blanchett, Isabelle Huppert, Gillian Anderson, Sienna Miller, Jack O’Connell and Ben Foster.His Shakespeare productions Lér konnungur and Macbeth for Iceland’s National Theatre won multiple Gríman Awards including Best Director and Best Production.His debut feature film Una (with Rooney Mara and Ben Mendelsohn) premiered at the Telluride Film Festival, and his follow up feature Seberg (with Kristen Stewart, Margaret Qualley, Anthony Mackie) premiered at the 2019 Venice Film Festival.
